Business Development Analyst

The Business Development team at AC Power focuses on identifying sites, interfacing with landowners and offtakers, tracking and responding to new policy developments, and engaging with potential channel partners. The team handles client-facing communications and preliminary development work up until site control is obtained and manages a smooth handoff of projects to the Project Development team thereafter.

We are seeking a Business Development Analyst who can support the Business Development team internally by thoughtfully synthesizing client-facing materials, researching emerging policy to support internal decision-making on company strategy, and taking on other internal-facing work that will allow the client-facing Business Development team members to focus their time on client outreach and origination.

This role is ideal for a candidate with 1-2 years of experience in solar, or for a recent college graduate with demonstrated interest in renewable energy development. The candidate should expect to quickly become engrained as a key member of the AC Power team. This is an excellent opportunity to learn all facets of solar development, and the role has been crafted with the expectation and opportunity to grow with the organization and advance toward a more specialized and skilled role within Business Development.

Job Function

Client Deliverables (40%)

  • Develop custom-tailored and thoughtful proposals for identified leads.

  • Responsible for the successful identification, preparation, and issuance of persuasive responses to competitive request-for-proposals (RFPs).

  • Develop external-facing materials to spread AC Power’s brand and story to prospective channel partners.

  • Assist the Business Development team with the negotiation of site control documents, including option agreements, lease agreements and purchase and sale agreements.

Internal Support (40%)

  • Research solar markets, develop summaries of available incentives and solar programs, and report findings to AC Power senior team.

  • Maintain database of project leads in AC Power’s CRM.

  • Keep an entrepreneurial and process-focused mindset by identify ways to improve our current processes and implementing them thoughtfully.

Site Identification (20%)

  • Identify the most viable markets for siting solar PV on previously disturbed properties and identify prospective locations for solar development in markets of interest.

  • Complete initial screenings for identified sites to evaluate physical viability, interconnection capacity and other criteria as put forth by the Project Development team.

  • Run AC Power’s financial model to confirm economic viability of a potential project and/or state-level market

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 1-2 Years of experience or previous internship in solar development a plus.

  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for renewable energy and/or environmental justice.

  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to grow within their role and own and grow processes and specific areas of the business.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong team player and self-starter with the ability to work independently.

  • Compensation is commensurate with experience.
